We are witnessing an increase in adoption of cloud as more and more teams are finding them valuable. Cloud adoption has increased the prominence of microservice architecture. Over the years, several architectural patterns have evolved around developing cloud-native applications. In the beginning, one had to rely upon hand-coding these solutions or build upon a library that provides a basic implementation leaving out the integration aspects. But today we have frameworks that come with all the bells and whistles required for implementing these patterns. Micronaut is one such framework.
In this presentation, I walk through several of the cloud-native architectural patterns and demonstrate how to apply them in services developed using Micronaut. The patterns covered would include external configuration, service discovery, distributed tracing, fault tolerance, gateway etc. The code examples used would highlight the declarative approach provided by Micronaut and their benefits for the developers.
