We all try to rely heavily on gathering data in order to make business-related decisions. But many times choosing the right metrics to measure or optimize, leaning on incorrect data or metrics, or even wrong interpretation of data can lead us to make the wrong product decisions.
This talk will bring some common examples of data-driven mistakes we make, and how to identify opportunity even in our blind spots, similar to survivorship bias, alongside other types of cognitive biases like confirmation bias and recall bias - and learn not just from the data and feedback loops we receive, but also the input we don’t receive. We will do so by examining common graphs and interpretations, and see if we can make better decisions by understanding them differently.
